Summer Leadership Workshops
Summer is a great opportunity for busy student leaders to kick back and recharge their batteries for the coming year. NASC offers several great opportunities each summer to improve your leadership skills while meeting other leaders and having a ton of fun in the process.
All three of our workshops take place at Wayne State College in Wayne, NE. This year's dates are July 29 - August 2, 2008.
The Summer Leadership Workshops (SLW) is for senior high students. Students work in small groups (called "co-ops") and large groups, focusing on seven leadership skill tracks. The curriculum is fun, interactive, and definitely hands-on. You'll learn about leadership by experiencing it.
The Advanced Leadership Workshop (ALW) is for incoming seniors who have attended at least one Summer Leadership Workshop. It is designed to challenge seniors to begin transferring lessons they've learned in high school to life in college and beyond. The five-day ALW is held concurrently with the senior high Summer Leadership Workshop, but activities are separate.
The Junior and Middle School Leadership Workshop (JAM) is specially designed for junior high and middle school students. Its purpose is to develop "three dimensional" leadership, focusing on personal, interpersonal and group skills. The active JAM curriculum challenges students to develop leadership action plans for the coming school year. JAMshop is held at the same time and place as our Summer and Advanced Leadership Workshops, but activities are also separate.
ATTENTION: Our listed registration deadline is June 15th, but there's still time to register! We are now accepting late registrations for all our of Summer Leadership Workshops.
If you've got questions about any of our workshops, e-mail Workshop Director Charlie Stephan at workshop@nasc.org
One-Day Workshops
One-Day Workshops are conducted throughout the year by members of the Volunteer Staff--the same people who plan and conduct the Summer Leadership Workshops. Like the summer workshops, they feature fun, experiential activities designed to challenge students to think about leadership in new ways. Unlike Summer Workshop, however, they are planned and conducted specifically for your group.
The focus is on helping your group work together more effectively as a team.
If your group is interested in having Volunteer Staff members come do a One-Day Workshop at your school, send an email with preferred dates and any special needs to onedays@nasc.org. To ensure that we can line up volunteers for your preferred date, please give us as much advance notice as possible.
