Scholarships & Awards

You've worked hard. Now let's celebrate a bit.

You and your school have worked hard learning and leading, and it's time for recognition. All NASC member schools are eligible to participate in the awards and recognition program sponsored each year in conjunction with the State Convention. Awards and scholarships are outlined in the table below with links following. Award nominations/forms must be received by the Executive Director no later than November 1.

All State Student Council All Student Council Members, nominated by Advisers November 1 One or two will be chosen for Ron Joekel Scholarship of $500. Dr. Joekel was one of the original NASC members.
Outstanding Middle Level Student Council Award All NASC Middle Level Counsils November 1 This is a self evaluation awarding three levels of distinction: Gold, Silver, and Bronze
Outstanding Student Council Award All NASC Councils November 1 This is a self evaluation awarding three levels of distinction: Gold, Silver, and Bronze
Don Darnell Award Retiring Adviser with 10 or more years November 1 Awarded in the name of long-time Lincoln Southeast Adviser Don Darnell
Warren E. Schull Adviser of the Year Any adviser with three or more years November 1 Adviser is named at state, then competes regionally, and nationally
Outstanding Administrator Award Any NASC member school's administrator November 1 Award recognizes continued support of principals or activities directors

National Awards

  • The NASC National Council of Excellence Award provides national recognition for middle school student councils that consistently provide quality leadership activities and service to their schools and communities. This link will take you to the National Association's Council of Excellence Award web page.

  • Take your leadership to the next level as you work to earn national recognition as an NASC Certified Student Leader (CSL). The CSL award is a program set up by the National Association of Student Councils to recognize individual leaders and provide a record of your leadership for college applications.
